High Heat Means New Needs

On-Site with Alliance Safety

As an Arizona-based safety company, some advice may surprise people unfamiliar with the summer working conditions. One of those things is knowing how your chemical storage needs may change based on the season. Things like petroleum, ether, acetone, benzene, and ethanol already have lower flash points and will vaporize quickly at high temperatures.

It is important to check your safety data sheets and know when chemicals must be moved into a climate-controlled area to prevent exposure or incidents. You can typically find this information in section 7 (handling and storage), section 9 (physical and chemical properties), and section 10 (stability and reactivity).

What is a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)?

A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is a detailed document that provides essential information about the properties, hazards, handling, storage, and emergency measures related to chemicals and substances. It is designed to ensure the safe use of hazardous materials in the workplace, helping employers and employees understand potential risks. SDSs are required by law in many countries and are a key component of occupational health and safety, providing guidelines on first aid, accidental release measures, personal protective equipment, and proper disposal practices.
